Cherry, and is a celebration of diversity. A young Asian girl notices that her eyes look different from her peers'. They have big, round eyes and long lashes. She realizes that her eyes are like her mother's, her grandmother's, and her little sister's. They have eyes that kiss in the corners and glow like warm tea, crinkle into crescent moons, and are filled with stories of the past and hope for the future. Drawing from the strength of these powerful women in her life, she recognizes her own beauty and discovers a path to self-love and empowerment. This powerful, poetic picture book will resonate with readers of all ages. "This tale of self-acceptance and respect for one's roots is breathtaking." - Kirkus (starred review).

Absolutely Beautiful

I sent this to my Nieces who are of Asian decent as they had been teased about their eyes. This book was written so lyrically and the illustrations were just beautiful. They and their parents loved it. It should be given to all children.

Great book for inclusion

Eyes That Kiss in the Corners by Joanna Ho A beautiful book of a child's love of what makes it special and how it connects to the women in her family. A gorgeous picture of self acceptance, and cultural representation of those things people question. I think its one of those books that needs to add cultural acceptance in a classroom. showing the value of the love and finding things that connect all of us

Wonderful book, kids like mine can see themselves!

As a mother of Chinese children, this book gave me goosebumps and made me want to stand up and cheer. This is the book I wish I'd been able to read to my daughters when they were little. The author imparts a message of pride and empowerment to children who will see themselves in the illustrations, and feel connected to the beautiful prose that relates so eloquently to their culture. But most importantly, this book is for anyone. It is a book that shows how we should cherish both our family connections and be proud of who we are.

Stunning, just read this book!

With stunning artwork that warmed my heart; relatable and cultural elements that hit close to home; full of authenticity and honesty that brought evocative images before my eyes - I can't recommend this gem enough and this picture book is perfect for every Asian (and non-Asian) searching for belonging.

Vital celebration of shared beauty

Dung Ho's lush, breathtaking illustrations illuminate the author's heartwarming and lyrical praise for eyes shared by several generations of women and girls in a family—and the myriad stories, traditions, and history behind that special gaze. Uplifting and essential!

Only features girls/women. If you have boys, skip.

I bought this book because while I am not asian, my husband is. I have mixed race children (son and daughter) who look like Daddy, very much so, but are often pointed out how they dont look like others in class or even me as their mother. I thought this would be a great book to show them how wonderful and beautiful these features are, but I thought it would be a bit more open in its celebration so it would work for my daughter and son, or at least have a Daddy shown in the book so I could point to him. It is a shame that this book totally excludes Asian boys and Asian Fathers as if they do not exist, these are also people that need uplifting in books or just equal representation. the author has mixed race son and daughter like myself, but with a white husband. Im sure the son needs books like this to uplift him as well? I guess im just disappointed they have a boy as well and did not think to make this book a bit more open to both genders. Not a bad book, just these sorts of books are rare and needed so it is a missed opportunity I guess?
