Sizing off

Nice shirt. The fabric is soft and the pattern looks good. I’m 5’5” and the length was spot on for me. The problem is the sizing. I ordered a 12 because I just bought a Fat Face dress in a size 12 and it fit well, so I ordered this in a 12 but this shirt is Huge, I’m reordering in an 8. I am normally a L top unless it’s cut big, then I’m a M. PIA to return because even though I returned it to Macy’s for them to ship back to seller, I won’t get refunded until seller processes the return.
