Great watch for every day use

Style and functionality goes well with this watch. Very practical and the monotone screen does not disrupt the style of the watch.

Almost There

The Fossil Collidor (weird name btw) is my first foray into smart watch ownership and I was looking forward to it a great deal. I was only mildly disappointed. The watch itself is excellent. It feels high quality both in terms of the metal part and the strap. I particularly like the idea that the straps are interchangeable at the flick of a catch, although it took me several weeks to discover this for myself. The feature wasn't mentioned anywhere that I saw. However, the smart functionality is not all it could be. The heart rate monitoring is great, although I'm not convinced it's particularly accurate, plus it doesn't seem to display in realtime, only updating when you flick your wrist or at set time intervals. The message notifications are great too, however that's pretty much where it ends. All other functions feel stuck on and really aren't that useful. I should make special mention of battery life too. It's excellent lasting for several weeks without a charge and even when it needs charging it only takes 20 minutes or so. In summary, great for what it is but I suspect there are much better smart offering out there.

Unique new smartwatch

So I've trialed this watch for around a month and its so unique compared to the others out there. The e-ink display is great on the eyes compared to other displays out there. I had the brown leather version of the watch and overall it looks very stylish, perfect for work or casual wear! My favorite part of the watch is how the hands on the watch move when you shake your wrist so you can see the smart dials easier and how those same hour and minute hands are used as the stop watch when timing. There were some issues with the watch however; initially I struggled with pairing the watch to my phone and thought this would be a one off however I constantly found myself having to restart my phone to get it to pair. The range of connectivity wasn't the best either, I'd go downstairs to go to my kitchen and found it had disconnected and again had to restart my phone to get it to pair. The side buttons are also a bit rough on the fingers especially when clearing loads of notifications which build up. Overall I did find it a good hybrid watch which is not 'too in your face' with tech but is still able to assist in monitoring fitness with a step counter, heart rate monitor and work out modes.

Nicely Stripped Down To The Basics

The Fossil Men's Hybrid Smartwatch HR Collider has a very stylish look to it and it does well at looking like a normal watch. It has the hour and the minute hand which sit on top of the smart screen. There's different looks available including one with tan leather straps. The watch has a great battery life before it needs its next charge but for all the above to work you have to give up a lot of features. There's no mic, touch screen, camera, speaker or a large range of apps. Most things on the watch work well; * You can flick your wrist to move the hands out of the way of the customizable smart screen. * The buttons on the side are customizable * I liked the ring my phone app, music app, do not disturb option and the wellness / workout which link into the step counter and the heart rate monitor. Somethings unfortunately don't; * You can double tap the watch face to activate the screen light. I find that the taps have to be done slowly or it doesn't work * Once inside an app there's no return button to go back to the menu * Dont allow notifications for your phones music app as it will give you a notification everytime you play or skip a song and take you out of the app on the watch * It takes a bit to get used to navigating the system If you want a smart watch that looks like a watch then this is the one for you but just don't expect it to be packed with all the features of a bulky smart watch.

Great Hybrid Model from Stylish Brand,

I received the brown strapped hybrid watch about 3 weeks ago, I have had other brands of smartwatch in the past but never a hybrid. The hybrid part of this was attractive to me as I hated having to charge regularly and when it runs out of charge then cannot see the time. This hybrid helped with this as it does not need regular charging and even when not charged can see the time (use as a normal watch) I like the design of the watch, it is not too big and looks like a standard watch rather than a digital looking watch. The strap and physical feel of the main unit are strong and tough and should last for a long time. The functionality I found took some getting used to but was soon learned and it sync'd well with my phone. It read my steps well and recorded sleep in line with other similar watches.

Not one of the best

Love the watch and its ability of being hybrid. The look and feel is great. The biggest downside is the text. Its not the easiest to read and i dont even have glasses yet. Maybe this is telling me its time to get my eyes tested again. Only had them tested a year ago and was fine. Found it hard to get the double tab of the screen for the light to turn on. Sometimes it works and then sometimes it doesn't. WOW.. The battery lasts ages, This is why i gave it 4 stars otherwise it would have been 3 stars. The features are great and is good to customise but even if you put a photo on the face, its quite difficult to see the photo much. Probably depends on the photo itself though. Loved that it reads your heart rate, step count is great as well. Used it a few times while exercising and for sport, not as good as other watches though. Not a full leather strap. If the product says full leather then i expected the whole strap to be full leather. I have stopped using it as its not for me.

Great design, for notifications and tracking

The Fossil Collider Smartwatch HR is a basic device with hybrid design - elegant, hi-tech and sporty at the same time - which combines both an analog and digital system in a neat frame with resistant glass. You can use it to check the time with the hour and minute hands, or to track heart rate, steps, burnt calories, see notifications and messages from your favourite apps and socials, set time zone and timer, change music track, and so on. These features can be customised on a Fossil app for iOS and Android. The watch connects via Bluetooth. The battery duration is long, due to the electronic paper display, like a kindle book. It charges quickly with a magnetic charger on the back steel. The adjustable and swappable strap is genuine leather, so it might get torn on the surface, the rest is steel and glass and resistant. You can still get small signs of wear when taken on the go 24/7. It is comfortable, not too light (72 g), it might just hurt when working with gym cables or wearing a jacket. It is not water resistant, but splash resistant (3 ATM). With the e-paper technology, the text on display is clear, but this makes the watch slow at any selection. The screen can be lit in a blue light by tapping the screen twice (a good tap, or it won’t work!) to be read in the dark. There is another amazing trick: by shaking the wrist, the watch hands move 360 degrees to show any item that can be hidden on the display. You can even choose a background picture (not too clear on e-paper), customise the 4 changeable or removable round tiles (calendar, steps, bpm,…), set 3 modes (Daily, Travel, Fitness), and set up the 3 side buttons with features, i.e. a wellness dashboard. The heart rate sensor and step counter are not too accurate, but almost there. It depends on how tight the watch is on the wrist. What is missing? The e-pay system via NCF , and the direct answer to calls (no mic or speaker). And if you lose it? Don't worry, you can localise it from the app. A big thumb down on the QA for Italian localisation, a shame for a great brand. You have some funnily translated text in basic features in the watch, such as literal translations (“on” as “sopra”, as a position), “clear” as “chiaro” (as a colour/light). Even on the App, the display modes (“daily”, “travel”), and the authorisation to manage notifications (privacy!) are not translated. I hope this can be sorted out with updates.
