Sizing problem, can’t tie it tight

Love the shorts the biggest problem with this product is the way you tighten it up around your waist. You can only tighten it up around your waist a little bit, the design doesn’t allow you to tighten further, it gets in the way. And since the material stretches, I couldn’t get them tight enough ! I order one size first, and was shocked by how loose, so I ordered a second pair one size smaller but it’s too loose because you can’t tie them tight enough. I strongly prefer shorts where you can tighten the string around your waist as much as you need!
