Professional Assembly- backing didn’t fit

My brother started to out this together but the backing was to wide and didn’t seem to fit, so he assumed he was doing something wrong, so he stopped assembling it. I brought in a professional, who previously assembled furniture for Macy’s and shortly after he started working he said that the backing also didn’t fit. With no backing- it created a bowing with the unit it feels unstable. It’s unfortunate because it’s aesthetically what I was looking for but practically speaking it can’t hold the items it was intended for. Also, because the backing doesn’t fit- there are gaps at the bottom and top of the cabinet doors. I would not recommend this product.
