Classic Perfume with Powdery Notes

I was genuinely surprised that I didn’t particularly care for Guerlain Shalimar EDP, especially since I love several of the Guerlain Allegoria fragrances. Shalimar is undeniably a classic and has clearly stood the test of time, which I can appreciate from a perfumery standpoint. However, on my skin it leaned very powdery and musky, and overall felt a bit too mature for my personal taste. While I understand why this fragrance is so iconic and beloved by many, it just wasn’t the right fit for me.

The combination of iris, vanilla, tonka, rose, incense, and touch of bergamot make this fragrance effortlessly chic and appropriate for any age, occasion, or weather. This is a must have in my collection, serves as a beautiful compliment to the original, and I hope Guerlain will keep Shalimar L'Essence in their permanent line-up.

Sophisticated!

I love the beautiful bottle, very classy, the perfume smells good too. I'm not sure if I would wear it daily or to a dinner party. It has a very sophisticated smell.

Beautiful fragrance

I love this year's holiday Shalimar! It has a wonderful vanilla scent, seems less sweet and more spicy than the regular Shalimar parfum and reminds me of the Shalimar I used to 'borrow' from my mother when I was a teen. I've been wearing Shalimar for over 50 years and this one is my favorite!

Perfect Winning Combination

I absolutely love the intoxicating ode to vanilla and amber scent which reminds me of the original shalimar. A welcome addition and salute to an old friend. I loved it so much that I bought all 3 sizes! I wear it daily and spray it on generously. Frequently I’m asked what I’m wearing and simply say it’s shalimar. Wish it was available in all ways from bath oils to body cream like the original formula and not limited. A welcome addition to my shalimar products. Love the vanilla and amber combination!
