A backstage pass to the groundbreaking, hit musical Hamilton, winner of the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and Eleven Tony Awards, including Best Musical, including the award-winning libretto, behind-the-scenes photos and interviews, and exclusive footnotes from composer-lyricist-star Lin-Manuel Miranda, now streaming on Disney+ with the original cast. Lin-Manuel Miranda's groundbreaking musical Hamilton is as revolutionary as its subject, the poor kid from the Caribbean who fought the British, defended the Constitution, and helped to found the United States. Fusing hip-hop, pop, R&B, and the best traditions of theater, this once-in-a-generation show broadens the sound of Broadway, reveals the storytelling power of rap, and claims our country's origins for a diverse new generation. Hamilton- The Revolution gives readers an unprecedented view of both revolutions, from the only two writers able to provide it. Miranda, along with Jeremy McCarter, a cultural critic and theater artist who was involved in the project from its earliest stages — "since before this was even a show," according to Miranda — traces its development from an improbable performance at the White House to its landmark opening night on Broadway six years later. In addition, Miranda has written more than 200 funny, revealing footnotes for his award-winning libretto, the full text of which is published here.

Let the magic continue!

I was attracted to this book because… I wanted more of Hamilton, and this book has everything I was looking for. This book was about From the title page Being the complete libretto of the Broadway musical, with a true account of it’s creation and concise remarks on hip-hop, the power of stories, and The New America. It tells the story of how the musical was developed from Miranda taking Ron Chernow’s biography on vacation to opening on Broadway. The book tells the story of everyone who contributed to this production. The photos are incredible. Things I liked about this book If I had watched this show in the theatre, I would have been constantly referring to the program. That is usually true, but in this play there are several characters who play one role in the first act. And another character in the second act. This book helped understand so many things I saw in the performance and didn’t understand. It has the lyrics to the songs, which I desperately wanted. I cried in so many chapters. I feel like I know the people who brought the story to life. This book answers the questions I had after viewing and will increase my enjoyment of watching it again. Why you should read this book Sometimes when you know how something works, how it was created the magic of object is lost. That is not the case with Hamilton. The more you know, the more power of the story draws you into the magic of this enterprise. From the moment, Miranda sang the initial song, Alexander Hamilton, at the White House for the Obama’s (look it up on youtube) to how Miranda was still perfecting the song about the duel, The World Was Wide Enough, until just a few days before the time ran out or the critics are coming to the show, every detail, every breathe is pure magic. And you begin to understand why this musical rocks your world. This book lived up to the back cover copy A highlight of the book is hinted at on the back cover. ‘Miranda has written more than 200 funny, revealing footnotes for his libretto, the full text is published.
