I bought two of the salad plates to replace a couple that had been broken while moving. We originally received the set as a wedding gift about five years ago. These are not the same. The salad plate is smaller with a thinner rim and did not feel as good of quality. Had to return unfortunately.
The best everyday dishes that I have ever had!
These are bone china, and NOT frail. We use them everyday and they never chip or break (well, one did when I dropped on the tile floor - but this is not something I have done before). They mix with beautifully with my fine-china with a fancy designer name. I wish they were not going to clearance because others will not be able to enjoy them, like I am!
Going strong ten years later
I purchased this collection ten years ago, and came into the website today to see if it’s still available at Macy’s. This set is beautiful, strong, classic, and lasts!! If you want something timeless, this is the one.
Changed sizes!
I bought 10 settings of these dishes in late 2016 after a lot of research. They represented great value for money. In 2018 I tried to buy a few more pieces to complete a set of 12, plus replace a couple of dishes that had broken. Unfortunately, Hotel Collection has changed the sizing -- they do not match. I'm very upset because I had made a large investment expecting to be able to get these in future. I still think they are good quality for money, but if you want this to be your life-long set, over buy and put extras in storage.
BEST DINNERWARE EVER!!!
I have had this dinnerware since I was married over 5 years ago. I cannot say enough good things about it! Beautiful white bone china that is always classic. You can dress it up for holidays with a pretty charger or use it for everyday dishes. You can microwave these plates (unlike other dishes with metal in them) and they are perfectly clean after running through the dishwasher. They don't get scratches on them at all from silverware use and in the 5 years, I have only broke 1 plate from dropping it on my tile floors (I dropped several but one 1 broke). Like I said, I really can't say enough good about this set. If you are thinking about purchasing or registering for this item, you will not regret!
Tiny black dots and air bubbles in the finish!!
I ordered service for 16 plus platters, serving bowls etc because I loved the simple classic plain white design and the strength and durability of bone china for everyday use. When they came I was so disappointed. Every single piece of china had tiny black dots under the finish and hundreds of tiny bubbles in the glaze. It almost looks like dust had gotten under the glaze and the dishes looked dirty. On some pieces it was in just a spot or two, but every piece was so poorly made it should not have passed a quality control inspection. I drove 45 minutes to the nearest Macy's store to return and re-order everything in hopes that the new shipment would be better. I got the new dishes tonight and they all have the exact same problem! When I talked with a sales clerk about it I was told I needed to lower my standards for the dishes. But spots that make dishes look dirty and bubbles in the finish will drive me nuts every time I use them! Now I need to go through the entire return hassle again and start all over on a search for dishes. Macy's needs to raise their quality control on this product. You can get a better quality product pretty much anywhere. Save your time and money and do not buy this product.
huge dinner plates
These are beautiful dishes. However, the dinner plate is huge. Measure your cabinet depth before ordering. The plates stick out about 1/2" over my cabinet preventing the door from closing. Will have to return, unfortunately.
Perfect dinnerware!
This pattern is wonderful! I couldn't be more happy with my purchase of the Hotel square set. It is lightweight, stacks beautifully in normal sized cabinets, is elegant and creatively beautiful with many linen colors. The China is substantial with a quality and smooth feeling. I continued to purchase additional pieces in the set. After living with a patterned set for 15 years, these are simply perfect for a variety of events and can be dressed up with Christmas sparkles, outdoor casual or everyday simplicity.
