Unable to deal with the consequences, they leave the body behind and make an anonymous phone call to the police, tipping them off. The group makes a secret pact to bury the memory of that night and never speak of it again, but when one of the girls receives a note that reads "I know what you did last summer," their dark lie is unearthed. Guilt, Lies, and Broken Relationships

Once I discovered the movie was based on a book, I had to read it. The story is similar to the movie, but quite a few details were changed for the movie. Overall, this is a great story about what happens to friends after tragedy, how lies can eat away at people and relationships, and what guilt does to people who know right from wrong, and chose wrong.
