Finally
I really enjoyed this book, pure and simple! I’ve always enjoyed Nora Roberts ( and J D Robb’s) work but, they got predictable. Or, one of a trilogy where brothers get together with sisters, after strife, turmoil etc. Not this book. A stand alone with a good plot and great, believable characters and, it went at a good, measured pace. As much as I dislike how much ebooks are going for now, I WOULD buy this again if needed. Enjoy!

Nora Roberts is the Queen of Romantic Suspense
A gripping new novel from Nora Roberts as Morgan Albright attracts the attention of a psychopathic conman who steals the identity of his victims before taking out loans using their assets as collateral before murdering them. With Morgan though he kills the wrong woman, attacking her friend and roommate instead. Broke Morgan moves home to rebuild her life, but the killer can’t get her out of his mind. He starts spiralling and soon blames her as the one who got away as being the root of his sudden stream of misfortune and determines she must die! There was a steady flow to this book. Yes, you know right from the beginning who the killer is but Identity isn’t a whodunnit. It’s romantic suspense at its finest as Morgan rebuilds her life all the while knowing that she’ll never really be free until the killer is caught. The romance element of this book was definitely of the slowburn variety and I loved the development of their story as Morgan and Miles became friends before taking the next step to lovers. Another highlight was Morgan’s relationship with her mother and grandmother or her ladies as she called them. Each interaction was beautifully written and the love between the three generations more than apparent. I loved the small town mountain setting of Westridge, Vermont and, as I’ve come to expect from this author there was a lot of detail to the backgrounds she placed her characters in and her words were so vivid I could picture this book play out in my minds eye as I read? With a great cast of secondary characters who added depth to the story, I’m more than happy to recommend Identity to any fans of romantic suspense

First Nora Book but Not My Last
I found this hard to believe but this was my first Nora Roberts read- I know right?! I have seen her books forever but after seeing that this was one of Catherine Cowles favorite books (who I LOVE) I decided to jump in. I think I went in with the wrong mindset. I was thinking this would be a romantic suspense book with some heat when really it is a suspense/thriller with a side of romance lacking heat. There was definitely more of a focus on the FMC's arc and her overcoming great challenges that have been thrown her way and how she has not only grown from that but strived. Morgan is working towards her goal of saving for her next dream, her own bar. She lives with her roommate Nina and all is well with the world until she meets Luke who literally tears it to pieces. She comes home to find her roommate Nina dead in her place and all of her savings stolen by none other than Luke who is actual a serial killer/stealer. Morgan is devastated and has no choice but to go home to her mom and grandma and figure out what is next. Her girls as she calls them have a nice setup and offer her a job at their place but Morgan wants something of her own. She ends up getting a job at the Jameson Inn as the bar manager. She knocks the socks off the manager and continues to impress which is how she catches Miles's eye. He is the oldest son of the Jameson family and is the COO. It was interesting to see their relationship because it didn't seem like either of them were wowed when they first meet- but you learn later on that they were both trying to play it cool. Morgan thinks everything is going to change once again when she learns from the FBI that Luke is still after her. He is now taunting her and she feels the need to tell her boss and their family what is happening so that everyone can be prepared. Of course they don't fire her but instead take her into the fold as one of their own. Her and Miles take a leap and decide to see where what they are feeling will go. Everything comes to a head when Luke shows back up in town and Morgan's worst fears are realized BUT alls well that ends well. I think the reason I gave this three stars was Miles and Morgan were a little off to me. We got POVs from both of them, and I felt like everything was very nonchalant. I wanted passion and steamy but got a slow burn with fade to black scenes. I also did not enjoy reading the killer's chapters. I appreciated trying to get into his head, but also felt like it was a little overkill. I think I will try Nora again though- any recommendations??

Nora Never Disappoints!
Morgan is an authentic character who suffers an unbelievable tragedy. I knew it was coming, I expected it, and yet it still blindsided me. That's great writing!

Romance & Murder
Nora Roberts gives us another page-turner with the romantic thriller IDENTITY. Morgan Nash Albright is working her life plan when a con man and serial killer crosses her path. After loosing her best friend and her money, Morgan goes home to Vermont to her mother and grandmother to start over. Morgan reclaims her life and even finds love in this new place. But the serial killer cannot forget the one that got away. On the run from the FBI, he plots and plans and brings the story to a head. The chapters from the mind of the killer are riveting. We watch him spiral out of control. All of the story we get in the 437 pages is compelling. I would have appreciated a more action packed climax. This is a real GIRL POWER story. Nora Roberts always delivers.

Nora Roberts does it again
Nora Roberts does it again! I haven’t read one of her books in a while and Identity was a reminder of why she’s such a popular author of romantic suspense. This book features a serial killer who presents as very smooth and who has the computer skills to steal his victim's identity (he pinpoints women with androgynous names like Morgan), drain their bank accounts, take over their property deeds, etc. Very scary because this sounds so realistic. Identity grabbed me right from the start and I kept finding reasons to keep reading/listening. Even though the book is fairly long at 437 pages (or 15 hours of audio), it never felt long. Some of the themes include family, both “actual” family and found family; starting over when you think you’ve hit rock-bottom; finding your inner strength. AND that women should seriously consider taking self-defense classes! The characters in this book were well-drawn and definitely not stereotypes. I absolutely loved Morgan’s mother and grandmother, along with all the members of the Jameson family. Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the opportunity to read an advance readers copy of this book, although I was rather late to it. I bounced between the ARC and the published audiobook (from Macmillan Audio), courtesy of my public library. The narrator, January LaVoy, did a superb job with the many voices. I truly don’t know how she manages to make the male voices so believable!

Taking Back What's Yours
I haven't read a Nora Roberts book in quite a while, and I was quickly reminded what a fantastic storyteller she is! Morgan is a hard worker taking on two jobs to get ahead. She hasn't taken the time to have a relationship, that is until a stranger comes into the bar she works at and starts showing an interest. He seems like a nice guy until her world starts to unravel and it all goes back to her association with him. Feeling as if she has no choice, she goes back home to live with her grandmother and mother. Unfortunately, her troubles catch up to her again. This time she has her family and her work family to help get her through. Plenty of twists and turns in this story right up to the end. Throw in some romance and you have a definite page turner! I received an ARC from Netgalley and am voluntarily leaving my review.

A must read, page turner
I don’t know how she does it, but Nora Roberts makes you care about her characters from pages one or two. The suspense in this novel, the mystery and the character development keep you turning pages and wanting to know what happens next, page after page. The book is so well written, and so enjoyable that I just could not stop reading. As a member of multiple book clubs, I find sometimes I can’t make myself get through a book where I cannot care about any of the characters. In fact, I have DNF "did not finish" many a book because I couldn’t care about the characters and didn’t care about their story. This is never true with Ms. Roberts Come for a rollercoaster ride with Morgan Albright as she finds her roommate murdered with her laptop. Luke has won her over, she thinks he might be the one! He has disappeared, what happened and why? Run, don't walk, get this book!
