Popcorn is a great snack for all, and especially when you are trying to lose weight- unless you add a lot of butter/oil... Commercial microwave popcorn is expensive and mostly sub-par, hot air poppers are bulky, and I always burn my popcorn when I make it on the stove top... So when I saw this J&J popcorn maker, and saw that it didn't need oil to make popcorn- I was super excited! That excitement quickly faded... On my first try, I set up the popper as directed and put in some freshly purchased premium kernels (My choice, not a specific recommendation). My microwave has an automatic popcorn setting, so I used that. About 1/5 volume of my kernels popped, and the popping then stopped. So I re-tried with a 100% power setting, and used open ended timing (add a minute feature on my microwave). The popper popped more kernels, but it was over-done and it was still not efficient. Next batch I reduced kernel volume to about half the measure, or a little more than 1 layer of kernels. I then set the power to 80%. About half kernels were popped after 7 minutes. I got about 2 cups of popped corn. Popped final batch at 100%, with a drizzle of oil to just coat all kernels. Set microwave for 10 minutes. Corn popped steadily but slowly. After 8 minutes the popping petered out. Almost all kernels popped! I got about 3 1/2 -4 cups of popped corn. So, long story short- Try a few batches to dial in power level and timing for your own microwave, and use a drizzle of oil to increase heating efficacy. I think I may have used 1/8 tsp. I keep my oil in squirt bottle, so I didn't actually measure. The popcorn this popper makes is very crisp because no steam builds up. It's really good! My star rating reflects the amount of work I had to do on my own in order to make the product work. The product should come with more detailed user information including recommended trial runs procedures for use. The popcorn this product can make is totally worth the trouble.

Awesome gift!

I purchased one of these on sale and liked it so much that I purchased two more for gifts! The gifts were well received, too! I like that you can shake out the seeds from the holes in the top, too. I purchased these on sale and have no complaints at all! I love the orange color, too!

Perfect for making popcorn

It does what it is supposed to do. Great way to get rid of the unpopped popcorn using the lid. However bowl not full when using recommended amount of corn.

Popcorn, not at its best

Container melted on the first use of this bowl, and has continued to burn corn and most kernels are left unpopped. I have used my Siemens microwave on all settings available to try and make it work. The silicone becomes very hot that melts the bowl which sticks to the plate of the microwave. I am hugely disappointed as I believed this to be a very high quality item. Joseph and Joseph my heart popped at the idea, but sank in disappointment.

Great product

Reall great and easy to use. Much healthier because you can dry pop the corn also. So quick and easy to clean and more kernels pop so less waste.
