This stone doesn't come with any instructions. You'll have to youtube it. Soak it for 15 minutes or at least 10. Flatten the stone from the beginning with sand paper or a flattening stone, because you're going to be needing to flatten this stone a lot. Every 3 or so uses, I had to flatten the surface once again.
This stone gets your edge good enough to tackle your kitchen basics, but it is not a good finishing stone, in my opinion. I'd recommend stopping here and just strop your knife on leather. I tried going 8000 and it just didn't work out for my knife.
