Halo Wi-Fi Smart Lock is a touchscreen electronic deadbolt with SmartKey tech. Use the Kwikset App to lock/unlock, program up to 250 user codes, and receive notifications. Can be locked/unlocked using the keypad, outside key, or the inside turn button. Available four rich colors.

Cheap and now unusable

Had it for about a 2 years and the screen has cracked like a windshield in cold weather. Normal use nothing extreme and live in VA so no extreme outdoor temperature…just poorly made. Now we can’t see the numbers on the screen to even use it so have to throw it away.

Great features, terrible battery life

These work very well, but unfortunately they eat through batteries at a very fast pace. Since I installed this smart lock it has needed new batteries about every 3 to 4 months with no exceptions. I'm not sure what is dragging the batteries down, but I have had this type before and the batteries lasted about twice as long. Ever 7 to 8 months is still a short time in my opinion if it doesn't get used very often, but the short time it consistently drains batteries is unacceptable. I will probably buy another brand next time that has a longer battery life since this lock takes 4 DD batteries.

Pretty good for several years now.

The Kwikset HALO smart wifi touch... has been pretty good for a few years now. No regrets buying it. I think the negative reviews are from people who are not good with technology. It has a pretty great app. Never once failed and locked us out. Can add as many family members as we want and everybody can have their own code. We are not a short term rental, just a regular house with a four person I/O.

Junk

Third Kwikset lock I had to buy in that 5 years. They all have issues but the Smartkey is the only reason I stick with the brand. The screen doesn’t light up and won’t respond to the app. It is sporadic and cuts in and out. When it works it is great but when it doesn’t it sucks and there is no rhyme or reason.

Unacceptable battery life

I've had this lock for a little while. Not sure what has changed (softwzare or firmware version?) but my previously barely acceptable battery life is now non-existent. Even without use, the battery life is less than a week (48 hours?). This Smart lock is now a regular dumb lock.

Terrible product, DO NOT BUY!

Kwikset should be ashamed to sell such a terrible product. I have 3 of these locks and wish I had never purchased them. They are absolutely useless and eat batteries every week. The advice they gave me was get WiFi extenders which I did. My router isn’t more than 25ft away from any of them. We even had a wall removed while remodeling and it didn’t help. Do yourself a favor and just do not buy!! Set up is obnoxious, the build quality is also poor, I have normal sized hands and the screen/buttons are to small prompting you to re-input your code. Every time I use these I curse out loud.

Poor Battery Life and Operation Issues

Definitely would not recommend For anyone to buy the Halo Lock. Have had it a year and regret it. Have to change batteries every 60 days and have a consistent issue with the deadbolt jamming. By reading all of the reviews with battery problems it is amazing that Kwikset has not solved the battery issue.

Hello, We're happy to help resolve this. Please follow the steps below in order: 1. Open the door and lock the latch. Unscrew and remove the interior assembly of the lock. Ensure the cable is tucked away from the spindle. Look at the cover to ensure the turn-piece is in the vertical position before reinstalling. See Section 4, Page 12. Horrible for short term rentals

Falls short of expectations. I bought for an airbnb, the cheaper brands do a better job at this they just don't have wifi. This had the potential to be very good but the way they have it set up, it is crap. You cant easily add user keypads, they make you put in emails for every user. It is absurd. And they need a protective sun cover for them that is not avaliable. In sun exposure it will not last long. Overall this is an overpriced limited option. Horrible for airbnb situation.
