A mixed bag...or a project

I looked at this barrette for a long time, trying to decide whether to order. Now it's here, and I'm not quite sure where to land. First - it's definitely unusual and beautiful. The dragonflies are a sparkly, lovely assortment of greens, even prettier than the picture. If these dragonflies were earrings - or a pendant necklace - I'd be very interested. But second - the barrette is challenging to use as an actual hair accessory, its main function. My hair won't fit (entirely) inside when I try it as a ponytail holder. So - maybe a partial ponytail, with some hair left down. But then, the clip is too heavy and pulls uncomfortably. Also, if I try it *anywhere* on my head, it sticks out high and round, almost like a handle. The mechanism doesn't secure easily, and seems it might suddenly spring open. In spite of all this, it's so pretty I'm tempted to keep it and see what I might make of it with jewelry tools...

Odd shape

Oddly shaped barrette, not flat but curved in over 2 inch diameter. Guess it would work if you want to wear a top knot.

Already broke

This was so big it could not hold my hair. It kept falling out and finally hit the floor and broke into pieces. It was beautiful but not practical unless you have super thick hair.
