I didn't love it but I didn't hate it. I felt there was so much going on that was unnecessary. It was much heavier than expected. She is portrayed as very depressed and suîcidål. A slow and sad beginning. There is a happy ever after. Overall just bleh mixed feelings with this book. Will continue the A Twisted Tale series.

Once Upon a Dream
As I make my way through this series, they are all pretty good. I really wanted to love this one as Sleeping Beauty is my favorite all around but unfortunately, I didn't love it. Still just like all the others by Braswell very well written.

Pass on this book
I only finished this book in hopes it would get better. But it was really hard to read. I like these twisted tales but this one wasn’t a keeper

Not what I was expecting
I bough this book thinking that it would maybe be like the film Malificant. Nope, it was not. Which I am happy that it wasn't, but still very surprised. Not sure if pleasantly surprised or not. The story helps the main characters from the film grow and show what type of personality they would have had if the film gave us a little bit more time. I liked the characters and how it ended, but the only thing that peeved me was how slow it was in the beginning. Which I guess was needed to explain some things and further the story, but it still bothered me. I'm happy I read it, but I wouldn't read it again.

Great Story
I love fairytales and something more age-appropriate was more than welcome. The first 80 pages are a bit slow, but from then on the storyline ramps up. I'd say the phrase "twisted" is appropriate and this booked shocked me with some serious growth. I also appreciated the take on how the story was not of the prince or the romance, but of Aurora's journey. The writing style was almost reminiscent of Percy Jackson to me and if you enjoy sarcasm in a book there seems to be plenty. Overall I'm impressed with the take on the overdone story and would recommend it to high school age and a bit younger. While there isn't too much gore it's the darker themes of depression that I would avoid for too young of readers.

It was good!
I decided to read the Disney twisted series as a whole, starting with this one. Sleeping beauty has been one of my favorite princess's when I was younger. The story was kind of boring at first but then a little ways through it got very interesting. But, I just finished another one of her books, and they are both very easy to read. All in all, if you are interested in Disney with a plot twist then this series is for you.

Refreshing adventurous twist on a classic story
I love that this book give a new action-packed and adventurous twist to the classic Sleeping Beauty fairy tale. Bonus points for turning Princess Aurora into a strong female protagonist.

Not impressed - so many italics!
I love the Twisted Tale series idea of taking a fairytale, and giving it a different ending. Lots of potential, right? This book didn't become slightly interesting until almost halfway through. The author uses SO many unnecessary italics, it drove me crazy. It usually only takes me a couple days to finish any book, but I've been working on this one for over 2 weeks and still haven't finished. I don't think I'll buy/read any other stories from this series.
