So Much Fun
What a fun ride! I thought this was going to be a cute, second-chance romance, and while it had all the hallmarks of that, it was SO MUCH MORE! I loved the nonstop adventure and tasks they had to accomplish to find her sister and the twists at the end were completely unexpected but so great. Highly recommended when you have time to devour this in one sitting.

Wonderful second chance caper romance!
What I love about Alisha Rai is that she is constantly challenging herself as a storyteller and Partners in Crime is a culmination of her combining all the lanes she’s written in within the romance genre and the result is a wonderfully entertaining tale of second chance love, an inheritance that brings a host of trouble and danger, reconciliations and a glimpse into South Asian culture. Mira is a heroine with curves and Naveen has middle-aged aches and pains! I loved this representation of normal bodied main characters! Both of them have not been successful with their matchmaker though they both want the stability and comfort of marriage. Shout out for the early part of the book being set in Artesia and Mira lives in Alhambra, neighborhoods in Los Angeles! I can’t say much more about the plot without spoilers, but I can tell you that it’s a slow burn until about 76% into the story and then Rai delivers the heat that she is highly skilled in writing. I loved the pacing of the book, the story was non-stop engaging, and I have so many questions for the author about bobby pins, zip ties, and Naveen’s mother’s ability to identify precious stones virtually! There are great relationships, the dialogue feels real and serves the story and characters, and the characters work through personal issues while going through some pretty high-stress scenarios. This book was an absolute joy to read and I loved the epilogue, which was like the best icing on a delicious cake. Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Amazing road trip romance
Partners in Crime is a delightful romp that I couldn’t put down! Alisha Rai’s romantic adventure is an amazing, can’t miss second chance road trip. Accountant Mira is having a bad day. Her latest beau, who she found via her Desi matchmaker, dumped her. Now she’s headed to the reading of her aunt’s will, and she arrives to discover the attorney is her ex. Naveen left his high powered law firm and stopped drinking after Mira left him, and now works for his grandfather’s small time clients. But, after the reading of the will, the two are kidnapped and taken to Las Vegas in order to find missing jewels that Mira may or may not know about. Mira and Naveen are thrown into one crazy situation after another. To say much more would spoil this raucous plot. Their Las Vegas adventure is forced proximity at its best; in order to survive they have to work together. As a result, they are forced to open up to each other and work through their unresolved feelings. I loved Mira and Naveen together! The best part of this kind of road trip romance is that the couple is on page together entire time. Their bickering, intelligence, and sexual tension are the ingredients that tie the fast paced story together. But they are interesting as individuals too. Mira needs to come to terms with her past, and Naveen helps her work through it. Naveen has family issues as well, and I loved the matter of fact way he mentions therapy as a valuable tool in their lives. He also loves escape rooms, and the fact that these details mesh so well in context is the beauty of this story. Partners in Crime is a romantic scavenger hunt around Las Vegas. There are twists and turns galore that are worthy of any Hollywood film. But it’s the connection between Mira and Naveen that makes this romance one of my favorite books this year. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Romance is a quick, heart throbbing thriller
Rating 3.5 Partners in Crime is an action packed romance that will have you finishing this book in one-day. Mira and Naveen become embroiled in her father's former con life after they are kidnapped by a crime syndicate demanding the return of something he took from them. These two are former auntie matches, but Mira ended the relationship more than two-years ago leaving Naveen heartbroken. A wild ride ensues through the Las Vegas streets as they uncover the crimes of her father and "who" truly is the notorious Cobra that is after them. These two ex-lovers truly become Partners in Crime and in the heart. This romance is a quick, heart throbbing thriller. Thank you Avon for the advance reader copy.
