This was such an amazing book to read and embrace. I am very glad that this book is a New York Times bestseller because of all the imagery and topics this book goes over and how it talks about all of her inner thoughts about things that are happening and how this book gives an insight into the world of someone who is a woman in a poor neighborhood, who faces racism and problems with friendship. It goes over topics that should be talked about more. For this reason, I believe it is good that this is a New York Times best seller.

What. A read !
I really enjoyed every bit of this. Read it in three days or so ? But I don’t like the ending. It literally ended out of no where. Right in the middle of an event I turn the page and nothing.

Awesome Read
So I had been eyeing this book at the library for a while now (mostly because of the gorgeous cover), and I finally decided to check it out. Even since the first chapter, I had instantly been hook. I must admit that I call myself a bookworm, but for months, I had not been in a mood to read. This book got me excited to read again, and now I’m more than 2/3 done with “Heartless” by Marissa Meyer, and I only started reading about 5 days ago.( it’s a pretty lengthy read) It might not seem like a lot of reading, but I have not really been motivated to do anything productive for a while, but now I spend hours reading. Though I happen to be African American like the main character, I have never faced discrimination or racism like her, so it’s good to read stories like this to remind myself how fortunate I am. ”Piecing me Together” is a nice quick read for all ages, and I recommend it to anyone who is interested in reading about the way that black people are still being treated to this day, even though racism was supposed to be put away with many years ago. <3

Exquisite book
I found this book to be exquisite. It is a coming of age story written from the perspective of a poor Black teen, Jade, on scholarship at a private school located a long bus ride from home. Jade's story intersects in complicated ways with the stories of those in her life: the wealthy Black female mentor Jade never wanted; the poor White classmate who shares Jade's bus ride to school; and her mother, who is often absent while working to support them. It is a beautiful story, interspersed with equally beautiful reflections in verse that capture what it feels like for Jade to dream and take advantage of opportunities while also resenting those who want to "save" her, how to claim her beauty in a world intent on telling her she is not beautiful, and how to use her voice on behalf of herself and others. This would be an excellent book club book
