A Nice Everyday Timepiece

I picked up the Seiko Chronograph Essential as a graduation gift, and for the price, it’s a fantastic choice for the occasion. While it doesn’t have luxury-tier features, it feels and performs like a quality timepiece—something that could be passed down one day. The design is clean and well thought out. It features a standard 12-hour format with a clever sub-dial for those who prefer 24-hour time. The stopwatch function is a nice bonus, though not the centerpiece. The stainless steel black gloss bezel pairs well with the flat black dial, giving it a subtle yet sharp look. The gloss. blue bezel on glass black is nice too, but black on black is hands down a better choice. One thing I appreciated was how intuitive the dial is—it makes adjusting the time and date straightforward. The only drawback is that the date function is mechanical, so it needs to be manually advanced at the end of months with fewer than 31 days. Minor inconvenience for a watch that delivers so much at this price point. All in all, it’s a great value and makes for a meaningful, everyday watch
