Cute style with some safety tradeoffs

My daughter loves the style of these, and she likes that they are more flexible than rubber rain boots when she's running and climbing outdoors. The laces are too long, to the point where it's a safety issue and I'm working out how to tie or cut them to make them shorter. She got blisters when wearing them at first because the inside is hard, but she still loves them.
