Packaged extremely well

Purchased and received today. When opening the box, I immediately noticed how well the dinnerware was packaged and insulated with heavy cardboard insuring no breakage/chips. The collection somewhat exceeded my expectations.

Beautiful but there is an issue with the finish

The dishes I purchased are lovely. The texture and the color and style was just what I was looking for and after receiving them I knew I was not going to look any farther. After we used them I noticed small etched marks from forks and the other silverware. I contacted the company right away and asked what to do. I was told these dishes are not scratch proof just scratch resistant due to the matte finish. What? I have never heard of such a thing with dishes you use everyday. I was told to use baking soda or Bar Keepers Friend on them to remove the scratches. These are lovely dishes but I have no idea what they will look like in a couple months.
