From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Mia Sheridan comes the emotional, highly anticipated follow-up to Archer's Voice, following Archer's troubled brother Travis. Perhaps Travis Hale's past is riddled with regrets, but his future looks limitless. He's the police chief in idyllic Pelion, Maine, women are regularly falling at his feet, and his family has mostly forgiven his mistakes. But when the new guy in town crosses him, things start to look shaky-especially when he meets the stranger's smoothie-making, birdseed-eating sister. Haven Torres's life fell apart. Or, rather, burned to the ground. At the time, it seemed like a solid idea to jump in her car, her brother a mostly-willing co-pilot, and embark on a cross-country adventure for the summer. Especially if she can catch the attention of Pelion's most eligible bachelor, Gage Buchanan, before she goes. And after the local police chief tells her of her brother's scandalous misdeed, she knows without a doubt that Pelion is just another town where their stay is best short-lived. Still, she and Travis form an unlikely friendship, and at first, it seems simple enough. She'll help him make her brother sweat a little, and he'll help her win over Gage. But then Haven starts to see the man beneath the brooding, and Travis starts to see the woman beneath the mess. However, Haven refuses to be tied to Pelion. And Travis has vowed never to be second best.

Great redemption arc

Anyone who read Archer’s Voice knows how much Travis was an a** in it. I will say there is a little redemption arc, and by the end of the school you grow to like Travis. Haven is a lovable FMC and was fun to read her POV.

Great characters development

I adored this redemption story with a small-town feel. We meet Travis in Sheridan's first book in this series, Archer's Voice. He is decidedly unlikeable in that book so I was curious to see how she turns him around in this story. The answer is that she does so masterfully. Travis is Pelion Maine's sherif and is on duty when he pulls over Haven after she almost hits him with her car. He cannot seem to figure out what to think of Haven. She's an out-of-towner, talks to plants, and is the sister of the Travis's newest enemy. Yet, he can't see to stay away from her. Travis and his story really got to me. Sheridan writes characters with an immense amount of growth. You really feel the changes they make from start to finish. While Travis and Haven seemed quite different on the surface, both had heartbreaking back stories that really brought to light a lot of explanation for their behaviors. I loved how sweet they were with one another as well as with those they cared for. These are full-formed characters with real flaws to them, which made them all the more interesting. If you read Archer's Voice and want to return to Pelion, you will want to pick this one up. Archer and Bree are present on the pages and are a great addition to Travis's story. If you haven't read it (you should), this one can be read as a stand-alone. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a romance with true characters development in its pages. Thank you to Bloom Books and NetGalley for an ARC of this book. The opinions here are my own.

LOVE LOVE LOVE!!

OMG this book was amazing! I read Archer's Voice at the end of last year and I fell in love with it. I was mad it took me so long to read it. So when I saw Travis was coming out I was thrilled. This was such a wonderful book. You will fall in love with Travis and Haven. The B&B they stay at has some interesting people and a non cat person becomes a cat person. I highly recommend this book.

The Redemption story we didn’t know we needed

4 stars Mia Sheridan does it again. I’m left utterly speechless by another novel she’s written. Archer’s Voice was the most beautifully written novel I’ve read in a long time. Initially, like many, I despised Travis. He was the character you wanted to hate. However, there was always something about him that made him hard to be mad at. From bullying Archer to saving his life. The range of emotion towards a character was vast. One minute you’d hate him and the next you were bawling your eyes out at with gratitude. I wasn’t sure before I started reading if I’d even like this book. Could I handle another smug Travis moment? Let alone a whole book of them… but my goodness I am so happy to have this book. I am so happy to see Travis’ redemption story. It was beautiful. It was painful. It was an exceptional story that portrayed the pain of feeling less than/second best, the hurt that unchecked damage can cause to one’s psyche, and the personal freedom that comes from being willing to risk it all. Yet another love story that will melt your soul. Thank you so much to NetGalley, Mia Sheridan and Bloom Books for providing me with ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Entertaining

Travis by Mia Sheridan is the second book in the Pelion Lake romance series. It’s set in Pelion, Lake, Maine and features Travis Hale and Haven Torres. Travis is the town’s chief of police and has a family who has mostly forgiven him after several bad decisions years ago. Filled with regrets, his future seems to be on the upturn. Until a brother and sister come to town for seasonal work. Easton and Haven Torres left California two years ago and have been traveling and working across the country. Travis and Haven agree to help each other. Travis will help her win over Gage Buchanan and she will help him make her brother sweat over his misdeed. Travis and Haven are reasonably well developed. Both characters change and grow as the story unfolds. However, I felt Easton was even more of a dynamic character. The story switches points of view between Travis and Haven giving readers insights into their thoughts and perspectives. The novel contains humor throughout, but also pulls on the heartstrings at times. There are a few surprises along the way that kept things interesting. However, the pacing was somewhat slower than I expected at times. The chemistry between Travis and Haven worked for me, but I expected more angst or conflict. There are a few spicy scenes. Themes include responsibility, redemption, trust, jealousy, friendship, family, and much more. Overall, this was an entertaining story of redemption for one character and finding a place where one fits for others. I would love to read Easton's story in a future book. SOURCEBOOKS Bloom Books and Mia Sheridan provided a complimentary digital ARC of this novel via NetGalley. All opinions expressed in this review are my own. The publication date is currently set for April 04, 2023.

Captivating, small town, redemption romance!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Travis is a novel by Mia Sheridan. This book is a continuation of Archer’s Voice. It centers on Archer’s half-brother and villain from the first book. Travis Hale is the police chief of Pelion, Maine, with a beautiful girlfriend, and his family has mostly forgiven him for his past mistakes. Haven Torres and her brother are running from their tragic past by taking a road trip across the country. When the siblings end up in Pelion, Haven finds herself drawn to Travis, and what starts as friends get complicated quickly. Travis and Haven must reconcile their pasts to have a future together. I love a good redemption story. Travis is a complicated, intricate character. Travis has felt second best his entire life. Travis has made some egregious errors and is still paying for his misdeeds. Travis’ journey of redemption is gut-wrenching and hauntingly emotional. I wanted Travis to find peace and happiness. The reader sees a broken man striving to improve but is dragged down by his past. I fell in love with Travis and his journey. Haven Torres is trying to run from her past. Haven has significant trust issues. She is afraid to let anyone in who could hurt her. Travis is that threat. Haven’s journey to reconciliation and peace was beautiful. This book is emotionally explosive. Every detail has been lovingly written. The secondary characters were terrific and made this book exceptional. I loved the backdrop of small-town Maine. The story moved well. I was intrigued from the first page. The last four chapters and epilogue were perfect! Travis and Haven had to work hard for their happily ever after, but it was a joy to read. This was my first book by Mia Sheridan, and I will read Archer’s Voice. I highly recommend this to readers who love small-town contemporary romance. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book through Netgalley and the publisher. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Travis redeeming himself & finding his own way

*IF YOU HAVEN’T READ “Archer’s Voice” DON’T READ THIS REVIEW! POTENTIAL SPOILERS AHEAD! If you loved, “Archer’s Voice”, and were curious to see more of Travis, then this book gave you everything into Travis’s life after the events in the other book, and expanded more on who Travis Hale really was. In addition, there was a new girl in the town of Pelion, who’s name was Haven Torres and happened to strike up a friendship with Travis, which eventually led to more. This story also had a little bit of friends with benefits, strangers to friends to lovers, small town, family, and more. Obviously in “Archer’s Voice”, the main focus was on Bree and Archer, and Travis wasn’t necessarily my favorite character especially with the way he treated Archer, but thankfully over the years Travis tried mending his relationship with Archer. In the book, it was set a few years later and Travis was still chief of police, but was still dealing with some internal issues such as, his mom’s betrayal, feeling excluded from others, and feeling like he was always “second best”. From Travis’s point of view, a lot of his issues came from childhood which still troubled him as an adult, and I could understand why he felt the way that he did. In a way, by Travis having his own story told, I got to see more of him, and he wasn’t an entirely bad person as I thought of him previous back in “Archer’s Voice”. Travis redeemed himself, and although Travis acknowledged that not everything he said or did could ever be erased, he always tried his best to right his wrongs, be the best uncle to his nephews and niece, and work on his brotherly relationship with Archer. I loved seeing Archer and Bree still come out in this story because even after many years later, those two are the absolutely sweetest and make me so happy. Meanwhile, Travis felt like he was intruding on their cute moments, and felt like a constant reminder of what he didn’t have which was a family of his own, a wife, a relationship, etc. Poor Travis, he really did have his own problems to work through, but with the arrival of a certain new someone (cough) by the name of, Haven, Travis started to see things in a different light. Haven wasn’t the typical girl that Travis went for. Haven was all about plants, the wildest curly hair, simple, laid back, and sweet. I honestly liked Haven, she seemed like a good match for Travis because, she brought out something in Travis that he never felt before and after everything Travis had been going through, it was like she was a breathe of fresh air to him. In addition, it was like opposites attract since Travis and Haven were interested in different things, yet they were able to find a natural flow between each other. Travis and Haven’s chemistry was good, I’m a sucker for when the main leads can’t help but always think about each other, and finally when they can’t take it anymore, they finally give in! So when Travis and Haven had their… fun in the lake, and then in Haven’s bedroom I was like, “OMG YASS!” Haha but there was also an underlying deep emotional connection that Haven and Travis had in their intimate moments. Mia Sheridan always does a great job of having multiple layers to not only her characters, but also in their actions such as, Haven and Travis’s conversations, etc. So while I did enjoy those passion filled moments that Haven and Travis had, I also loved reading their inner dialogue explaining their true feelings towards one another. Travis in a way was a man with a mission, he wanted Haven for himself, but at the same time he was put into a position he had never been before where HE was the one going after the girl. In addition, Travis was both opening himself up to Haven by telling her things he had never told anyone that just goes to show much Travis felt comfortable with her, and trusted that he could confide in her. Haven was understanding to Travis’s fears about his past, and even when she found out about his dad, and Archer, she never judged him harshly like the others in Calliope (rich town on other side of Pelion) had. Overall, the story was good. I loved learning more about Travis and getting to meet Haven. Travis and Haven were a sweet couple who brought out the best in each other and Travis strived to become a better man for Haven. If you’ve read, “Archer’s Voice”, I would say give this book a chance and not only will you see some beloved characters such as, Bree and Archer but also feel the nostalgia that is Pelion.
