damaged item, missing parts,

The package came in shambles. There were rips and tears and holes in the box. It had clearly been opened and taped back over several times . When I moved the box, I could hear metal clanking around. When I opened the top of the box, I found that none of the pieces were wrapped correctly. Most of the Styrofoam was broken. Most of the metal pieces were just laying on top of each other in the bottom of the box. There were two items that were slightly dented and bent. There was one significantly bent so that a drawer will not fit or be held by the runners. There were minor scratches on other pieces of wood. I contacted Macy’s who assured me they would order me a new desk and have it shipped immediately. I asked what do I do with this desk since the box is trashed and the packing materials are obliterated. Macy’s said I could throw it away. They apparently contacted the furniture company who then contacted me at 10 o’clock in the evening who offered to send me new parts. Too late.
