I bought the ULT field 5 hoping for a major upgrade from the field 1, and I was not disappointed! This is a great speaker with great sound clarity and outstanding bass. I also like the light upgrade compared to the SES XG300/500 and the ULT field 7. Overall, I highly recommend this speaker!

Fantastic build quality indoor or outdoor speaker
I found the ULT Field 5 very easy to set up after unboxing. The Bluetooth connection was easy, with a fantastic range and the connection has been flawless so far. The speaker feels very well built, with the usual expected Sony build quality. The speaker feels so well built that it should easily handle any knocks and scrapes from most travel and outdoor scenarios. Sony advise the speaker is dust and IP67 water resistant, in turn also rust proof. The weight of the speaker is over 3KG but it is quite portable as there is a handy detachable shoulder strap within the box. I really like the way the strap connects to the speaker, but I think the strap could have had a little padding fitted, to avoid rubbing the shoulder if carrying it for a while. The Sony ULT Field 5 considerably surprised me when it comes to sound quality and its ability to fill an outdoor space or room with it's powerful sound, for the size of the speaker. Sony advise another speaker can be connected to form a stereo pair, which I haven't tried but I must admit I'm tempted! One of the features I really like is that the inbuilt LED lights change to the beat of the music being played around the ends of the speaker. This is really good for party nights, but you can turn the lights off if you prefer to do so. The speaker works on its side or end but seems more natural to be placed in a horizontal position. The ULT button has 2 settings. ULT 1 is for those that like a "deep bass" feel but I found it doesn’t seem to spoil clarity at all. I this setting very good for Drum and Bass and also Rock music. The ULT 2 setting is known as "attack bass" and is more suitable for playing live music and this setting does fill a larger space with the feel of being in a live setting. With either ULT button setting there is no noticeable distortion, and both settings don't seem overpowering at all. With the ULT button switched off, the speaker gives more clarity for music genres that require more mid and high settings and anyone not looking for a "Bass fix" should find the speaker of very good general sound quality. It is worth noting there is in built sound field optimisation, which provides clarity of sound in noisy environments, perfect for those trying to listen to quieter music when the world around prefers to be noisy. The Sony connect app, allows the user to customise the 10 band EQ (and change other settings) of the speaker even further, although I haven’t really felt the need to use it too much yet myself. Battery life has been exceptional so far, as I have been getting around 25 hours from one full charge. The speaker also has a quick charge feature and with 10 minutes charging, you can be up and running again with around 100 minutes of playback time. It's also worth noting with the correct cable, the speaker can also act as a powerbank and charge a mobile phone, which is very handy for camping or days at the beach. Overall, the ULT Field 5 is a powerful well built hard wearing outdoor speaker and come rain wind or shine, it is a fantastic choice for most outdoor music listening scenarios.

Mobile Thearter!
Mobile disco! I’ve had a number of portable music systems over the years, most have connected via Bluetooth and this has to be the easiest and quickest I’ve ever used. It connected very quickly to my phone and the app (Sound Connect) has a good interface that was very intuitive. I’ve used the speakers a couple of times at family barbecues and it’s been great. Most importantly they sound fantastic with a great range and awesome bass. Initially I found the flashing lights to be great, especially with the app controlling the moods but it took me quite a long time to figure out how to switch them off. There is a switch near to the input port labelled lights but this didn’t appear to do a lot, (Work in progress). You can turn them off in the app by selecting the very edge of a colour in custom. It’s heavy! It’s got great battery life but weight is the penalty you have to pay. If you haven’t got far to lug it, you will love it. If you have got far you need to start building up those muscles.

ULT FIELD 5 Wireless Portable Speaker
🎶 Sound Quality & Performance • Powerful, bass-rich sound: Dual woofers, two tweeters, and side passive radiators deliver a bold, room-filling soundstage. The signature “ULT” button toggles two bass modes—ULT 1 for deep, thumpy lows and ULT 2 for punchy energy. Reviewers agree it “packs in party-level lows,” with minimal distortion even at high volumes • Stereo capability: Can be paired wirelessly with a second Field 5 for stereo separation, or linked with up to 100 Sony Party Connect-compatible speakers • Tuning & clarity: Includes a 10-band EQ accessible via app, letting you dial down harsh treble or mid scoops (though some find mids a bit recessed without tweaking). ________________________________________ 🔋 Battery & Portability • Long endurance: Sony claims up to 25 hours of playback (studio conditions, lighting off). Real-world use at moderate volume shows roughly 23 hours; heavy lighting or bass reduce that to ~15 hours • Quick-charge & power bank: A 10-minute quick charge gives ~100 minutes of playback, with full charge in ~4 hours The USB-C port also doubles as an output to charge your phone. • Weight & design: Heavy at ~7.3 lb (3.3 kg) with optional shoulder strap, it’s portable for outdoor events but impractical for bags. ________________________________________ 💧 Build, Durability & Features • Rugged and splash proof: Sporty IP66/67 rating, durable fabric, rubber end caps, and recessed radiators mean it stands up to dust, drops, and even full submersion for 30 minutes. • 360° LED party lights: LEDs pulse to music and are customizable via app or buttons. Some find them gimmicky or battery-taxing; app-controlled lighting drains battery to ~10 hours, and lights at max volume drop runtime to ~2.5 hours. • Convenience extras: Physical controls, AUX-in, Bluetooth 5.3 with multipoint pairing, and long-term battery modes (“Battery Care” caps charging at 90%) .________________________________________ ✅ Pros & 👎 Cons Quick-List ✅ Pros 👎 Cons Huge bass and loud output Heavy – not bag-friendly 25 hr battery + rapid quick-charge Mids can get muddy in ULT mode Rugged, IP67 waterproof build LED lights drain battery fast USB-C power bank feature Bulkiness may be something to consider ________________________________________ Summary: The ULT Field 5 shines when it comes to sound power, endurance, and ruggedness—perfect for outdoor events and pumping bass lovers. Well rounded and easy to carry party piece
An exciting compact product that I tested both at a small birthday gathering and also while outdoors. Its size was enough to hold in a hand while the strap provided also helped it to be mobile. Pushing the ULT button is the additional base function and listening to my various genres was easy. The light show is also impressive. USB-C charging makes it easy to plug in anywhere so I found that super convenient. I absolutely recommend this product for wireless speaker enthusiasts

Excellent speaker, great sound, lights and battery
This is an excellent speaker that is very well made, sounds great, has excellent lights and superb battery life. From the point of opening the box you can tell that Sony has thought about the environment. There is very little plastic in the box and almost all of the materials are recyclable, a great win from the environment. Upon turning on the speaker it was very easy to pairy wife's phone and mine. The fact that you can paid two phones at the same is excellent, as it means you have not got to disconnect and reconnect all the time. The sound on this speaker is very, with plenty of bass, mid range and treble. We used the speaker in our caravan and it sounded excellent. The lights are great and really add to the speaker. The battery life has been great so far we have got around 23 hours out of one charge. I would highly recommend this speaker as a great addition to anywhere, the home, outside, caravan, motorhome etc. I would not hesitate to purchase one of these

Sony ULT Field 5 - Pack-a-Punch for Your Playlist
Design and build From the moment you unbox the ULT Field 5, you can tell it’s well built, not only by the heft it, but the metal hooks on the shoulder strap, the solid clunk when you push the buttons, the high quality, durable fabric that wraps around the speaker and the solid frame. Without the shoulder strap, the ULT 5 looks sleek and would go well in almost any room. The shoulder strap is easy to attach for when you want to take the ULT 5 out and about. One of the most impressive design features is that the ULT 5 is IP66 & IP67 waterproof and dustproof meaning you can take it pretty much anywhere and not need to worry about it. To keep the ports safe from water and dust, they are hidden behind a rubber cover. Behind the cover you’ll find a 3.5mm input jack, USB-C port for charging the ULT 5 which can also be used for charging your device as well as battery and light buttons. The LED lights also add a nice bit of fun to the speaker and have various settings which can be controlled in the Sony Sound Connect app, including matching the lights to the beat of the music. The ULT 5 has also been designed so you can have it horizontally or vertically. When placed horizontally you get better stereo imaging, when placed vertically you get better bass as one of the passive radiators is facing down. For speaker layout, there are two tweeters and one woofer on the front with a passive radiator on each side. The top has all the buttons: power, Bluetooth, connect, play/pause, volume down and up and the ULT button which also lights up. Features and connectivity The two types of connection for the ULT 5 are Bluetooth or 3.5mm wired connection. The ULT 5 supports AAC, SBC and best of all LDAC. LDAC is by far the most superior Bluetooth codec as it allows for streaming of hi-res audio. Most android devices support LDAC and with a few tweaks, it can work on Windows 11. Bluetooth on the ULT 5 allows you to connect multiple devices to it at the same time. You can also connect two compatible speakers together for a stereo setup and party mode allows you to connect up to 100 compatible speakers. Using the Sony Sound Connect app gets you the most out of the speaker, it allows you to change the light settings, input settings, customise the 10 band equaliser, alternate between the ULT sound profiles (this can also be done using the ULT button on the speaker). There is also a DJ mode where you can play around with different settings, whilst fun, I find it a bit of a gimmick. The battery lifer is claimed at 25 hours and after the first hour of use at moderate volume with the lights on, the battery barely dropped. I have every confidence it would last all day. To improve the life span of the battery, you can enable battery care which charges it to a maximum of 90% to prevent excessive wear. Stamina mode turns off sound effects and lights to extend battery life. The ULT 5 charges via USB C and supports power delivery. The speaker can also be powered by AC however there is no AC adapter included, only a USB C cable. Sound Quality The vocals immediately stood out to me on the ULT 5, they were much clearer than I expected. Bass was initially a bit lower than I expected but that was soon fixed using the EQ. Stereo separation is also much better than I expected. The ULT 5 gets plenty loud enough and I only started to notice slight distortion above 90% volume making it brilliant at filling a room or playing outdoors. I played various types of music on the ULT 5 to get a good idea of how it performs. The intro of Crazy on You had brilliant instrument separation, every guitar strum was clear and well defined. When the electric guitar and drums kicked in, the stereo imaging was impressive considering the size if the ULT 5. Aston Martin Music by Rick Ross delivered deep, powerful bass right from the start without sounding muddy. Female vocals such as Taylor Swift were also well produced. The support for LDAC really enhances the ULT 5, there's just that much more clarity and impact when you use LDAC due to the higher bit rate. On the whole, sound was clearly the priority when Sony designed the ULT 5 and is easily its strongest trait, rather than relying on gimmicky features. Sony clearly focused on superior audio quality with the ULT 5 and it’s has paid off. Conclusion Overall, the ULT Field 5 is a fantastic speaker with great build quality, sleek design, waterproof and has excellent sound quality. It’s an easy recommendation!

Amazing level of sound
I got this speaker a week ago and i am extremely impressed with it. Upon opening the box you can feel the build quality and it also looks amazing. The strap is a beautiful addition embossed with metal hooks that are secure so give you peace of mind. The speaker can remain sleek with the ability to hide the connections for the straps easily and effectively. The sound itself is impressive the bass is deep the highs are crisp and the vocals are punchy its easily the best sounding speaker i have had. The addition of the lights that cycle through colours and follow the beat are also fantastic. The speaker can also be used to charge things too so works well to charge your phone while you use it. Overall its an amazing sounding beautiful looking well built speaker with extra functionality i would definitely recommend it.
