Probably my favorite one so far.

Amanda Lovelace has quite a few poetry books out there, and this is the latest to her "You are your own Fairytale" series. Short, sweet, to the point, and filled with emotions that really anyone can relate to. Probably my favorite one so far. *I received a copy of this book from NetGalley. This review is my own opinion*

First Lovelace read and won't be the last!

"Your story may seem like it has far too many pages, but by the time you're finished, it will seem like far too few." This is my first experience reading one of Amanda Lovelace's collections and I absolutely adored it. This collection focuses on self-love, feminism, loss, and embracing who you are and becoming your own hero(ine). I bookmarked many of these poems and most resonated with me. I felt like this book of poems was a breath of fresh air that I didn't realize I needed. "it's okay to pick a calmer, quieter life." While not every poem hit my heart like some, I can seem how they could affect others going through a difficult situation or a season of uncertainty. I will be picking up more by this author in the future.

Did not connect with this one

2.75 This poetry collection by Amanda Lovelace is the third instalment of the "you are your own fairy tale" series. And this is the seventh poetry book I've read by Amanda Lovelace. It has three parts and features beautiful illustrations within, and also displays a list of TWs right before diving into the books content. Overall, I really enjoyed the illustrations quite a bit but I did not connect with many of the poems within. I feel like poetry can be such a personal venture and just because I didn't connect well doesn't mean that it will have the same impact for others, and may actually be quite cathartic for the reader. I found that there was a fair amount of redundancy that just left me wanting a bit more range and exploration than was provided. I'm glad I read it because there were a couple of standout poems that I am going to note in my journal that deal with grief I found truly resonated with me. CW: Fatphobia, Homophobia, Mental illness, Child abuse, Confinement, Self harm, Death, Eating disorder, Queerphobia, Grief, Trauma, Sexism. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher/author for providing an advanced review copy in exchange for an honest review.

So beautiful and heartfelt!

*****5 Stars! “Her love adores her even when she’s being impossible.” First I would like to thank Andrews McMeel Publishing and NetGalley for allowing me to read an arc of this book. I am honored to have been given the chance to read it and give an honest review. Unlock Your Storybrooke Heart was such a beautiful and heartfelt read! I absolutely enjoyed every moment of this book and all the emotions it was able to bring forth. I’ve always been quick to read any Amanda Lovelace book that comes out and I’m never disappointed. Reading her work is such an amazing experience, each time I always walk away feeling so strong and empowered by it. This book was very thought provoking and each verse felt so relatable and heartfelt. To be able to love yourself is a very powerful thing, it’s very important to understand that the knight doesn’t always have to be the hero in your story because the true hero is yourself. I can’t wait to read more of her beautifully written books, I know they’re going to be just as amazing as the last!

Satisfying conclusion to the trilogy

Trigger warnings: eating disorders, mental illness, self-harm, sexism, queerphobia, death, grief, and trauma Amanda Lovelace again does a great job narrating her own audiobook for unlock your storybook heart, the finale of the “you are your own fairy tale” trilogy. Once again, the poems are full of highly quotable lines. I could relate to this one at times more than I could the poems in the first two, which helped with my enjoyment of the book. This was a satisfying end to the trilogy. Many thanks to NetGalley for providing me an audio ARC of this book.
