A hopeful single mom moves to the Houston suburbs to start anew, only to find a new adversary in the HOA. Amelia Marsh relocates with her two young kids to a northern suburb of Houston after a brutal divorce. All she wants is a bit of normalcy for her children. The last thing she needs is to be the center of a disagreement with the HOA representative. Believe it or not, her children's garden gnome is accused of violating the association's rules. No way is Amelia backing down on this one. Gnomegate? Really? HOA President Kyle Sanders would be a good friend or even something more if Amelia wasn't gearing up for battle with the HOA in her determination to make her house a home and her neighborhood a community.

Mom fiction

Recently divorced Amelia Marsh and her two kids have just moved into a new neighborhood in a Houston suburb, and she immediately finds herself doing battle with the local HOA over whether the garden gnome her kids made her is appropriate lawn décor. Amelia refuses to back down. She feels an attraction to new neighbor Kyle Marsh but is dismayed to learn that he is the HOA president. The two can’t deny their attraction, but Amelia is afraid to date so soon after her divorce, and Kyle is afraid that dating a woman with kids will only lead to triple the heartache if things end between them. Can they take a chance on love? This book was billed as an enemies-to-lovers romance, among other things, but Amelia and Kyle weren’t even temporary enemies. I would describe it much more as a friends-to-lovers story. This book was much more than just a romance, as we saw Amelia’s relationship with her kids and her friends, as well as watching Amelia figure out who she is now that she is divorced. I did like that the kids sounded realistic in the story; too many stories have kids sounding much younger or older than their age. I did not care for the narrator of the audiobook. If you read this book, I would recommend getting a physical or ebook copy. Many thanks to NetGalley for providing me an audio ARC of this book.

Creative audiobook that entertains & delights!

This one will give you all the feels from laughter to tears so be ready! Great narration brings the emotions even more to the forefront of the story to enhance this wonderful story of overcoming and realizing that you are enough. Being a single mom is hard, but being a single mom combating bullies on multiple levels, a checked-out ex who leaves his children distraught and juggling big emotions in little kids is almost more than this mom can handle, but will she realize she is doing well and can accept help from unlikely sources, or will she go down in flames? This book was seriously a great read or rather listen and I can't wait to listen to another book by this author!

Romance

This is a Romance. I loved this book so much. I found this book funny at times, cute at times, hard hitting at times, and just a great read with great characters. Amelia is a newly divorced single mom that is trying to move on after her ex-husband cheated on her. Kyle is a good guy that is the HOA President that has also been burned in the past. This is just everything I wanted, and I loved seeing both these characters moving on and getting stronger. This is a fun read, but this is not a cute sweet romance book. I received an ARC of this book. This review is my own honest opinion about the book like all my reviews are.

Starting Over With the Help of Friends

Newly divorced Amelia and her 2 children have moved to a new home outside of Houston. The development she moves to has as HOA and she starts to receive letters about the gnome in her front yard. It seem like the HOA is out to get her and she is ready to fight. Her children are also having trouble adjusting to their new home and the fact that there father is gone. Amelia has great friends. The reader will love the portrayal of friendship in this book. It is a heartwarming story of starting over, trying to be the perfect parent for her children and maybe finding new love. It is a perfect summer read. Thank you to #earlyreads, #TracyGoodwin, and #Sourcebooks for a copy of this book
