Love this bed!
I had this bed delivered & set up by Macys 5 star team yesterday. They took time to make sure it was assembled correctly. It is a beautiful bed and the chestnut finish is gorgeous. It seems to be very well made and the Appalachian Maple was a great touch. Look forward to have this bed for the next 20 years!
Superb furniture
It took my husband and I 31 years of marriage to agree on a new bedroom set. After all of this shopping, we knew quality, but didn't want to spend a fortune to get it. This gorgeous furniture was delivered yesterday and was worth the wait! Solid wood furniture, not press board or plastic. Dove tailed drawers that just sail closed. So many sets we saw were crooked and the drawers didn't close properly. Cliver extras, such as a power strip built into the back of the bedside tables so you can plug in your lamp, radio and cell phone easily. A mirror built into the tall dresser. A drawer that opens in the longer dresser to accomodate TV systems. Plus the delivery people, Jose and Francisco in Atlanta, were fantastic and meticulous. Very impressed with the whole experience!
The odor is mildew
I have to admit that I dismissed the previous review complaining about an odor. Partly due to the poor wording, and partly because it stood alone. Sadly, I need to support that review. Once the house was shut up for the colder weather, my bedroom began smelling of mildew. The strength of the smell grew over time. Some days, I can smell it coming up the stairs. Following my nose leads me to the surfaces of each of the three pieces of furniture from this set (not the interior of any drawers). They each have a faint wiff of mildew. Apparently, it is enough to accumulate over time. I have finished a lot of wood surfaces over the years, from furniture to room trim. I have never had a wood surface smell like mildew. These smells remind me of my days sailing old wooden boats. I don't know if the smell is from the wood itself, or if it is from the finish. One of my pieces came in its original shipping box, so it isn't from sitting out open in a Macy's warehouse. If the smell ever goes away, the furniture will be well liked. However, I suspect that the odor will continue to grow as it has over the past two months. Here's hoping that Spring comes early!
Georgeous Bedroom Set
After looking at many bedroom sets and not being impressed with any, we finally found this set. It was delivered in May and we could not be more pleased with the quality and workmanship of this set. Many of our friends and family have asked where they could get a set like this. The little things like the lined drawers and the bottom cedar in the dresser drawers as well as the whisper closeing drawers on all pieces is very impressive. A truly Great Set made from Hardwood!
Love it!
The picture in the ads and on-line do not represent the real beauty of this furniture set. The color is so rich and much darker. I had a few issues with the dresser drawers but called Macys and a technician came out and fixed the problems. The furniture is solid and well made. I am very pleased with my purchase.
Quality Bedroom Set
I just received my Gramercy Bedroom Set and I LOVE it! Quality furniture, solid and sturdy, with clean lines. The wait for delivery was 2 months but, well worth it and the 5 star delivery service was great! I had shopped around for a bedroom sets in the local stores and was very unhappy with what was available in Full size; this set ROCKS!
Don't be fooled by its appearance
I bought this bed in May 2012, and it looked beautiful. However, the ordor was very annoying. It has been almost three months but the ordor is still irritating. I would definitely return this bed if I could.
High quality for a great price
I consider myself somewhat of a furniture snob. Purchased the king bed and after one month, I am still incredibly impressed with the construction and finish of this bed. It is really gorgeous and I am very very pleased with my purchase.
