Cheese Boards

Having friends and family gather to taste an array of delicious appetizers and treats is a joyful experience. Experienced hosts know that there’s an art to sampling fine foods, and sometimes sharing different tastes and bites in cheeses and other appetizers is as delightful as sharing a full meal. Displaying and serving fine cheese does require the proper serveware, however. That’s why it’s critical to have a choice of beautiful cheese boards when hosting a cheese and appetizer event.

Hosts and hostesses often take different approaches to serving cheeses at an appetizer party. Some like to bring out each type of cheese separately, on different serving trays. Others may choose to arrange a slice of three or four different types of cheese on one tray and let guests choose between them, and compare tastes. There’s really no right way to do it, it’s up to the host’s personal preference and what kind of trays and plates they feel will best work for the kind of party being planned.

Choosing the right kind of cheese trays to use for a tasting event is part of the fun. Traditionally, cheeses have been sliced and served on wood blocks. Dansk has wood serveware that works beautifully for slicing and serving hearty chunks of cheese. These boards are formed from smooth wood panels that make for a sturdy cutting surface as well as an attractive display. These boards should be hand washed after use.

For a more luxurious approach to serving cheese and appetizers, Lauren by Ralph Lauren has stainless steel serveware sets that offer mother of pearl detailing. These elegant sets include serving trays and coordinating cutting knives, salt and pepper shakers and serving bowls. These lovely pieces will add true glamour to that next tasting party, for sure.
