Italian Countryside is our pattern

Italian Countryside is our pattern for nearly 28 years. It's both simple and elegant enough for everyday use and formal dining. Love the size of these bowls for soup, cereal, vegetables, desserts.

Italian Countryside is my everyday

Italian Countryside is my everyday choice for our table. My current set is 10 years old. The bowls were beginning to show wear and were not always coming clean in the dishwasher. I ordered just as replacements and I am pleased that they are a bit more substantial in weight. I hope they hold up for another 10 years. Thanks for not discontinuing this pattern.

These bowls are great for

These bowls are great for so many things. We actually use them for our cereal and yogurt on a regular basis. When the grandchildren are with us, they are the perfect size for pasta and most of the things they like. And when company comes, I use them for condiments and add-on toppings for dishes. The pattern blends in with all my dishes. I just ordered another set because we run out of them before the dishwasher is ready to run. They are a perfect size.

Problem Bowls

The original bowls' from some years ago glaze failed so I ordered more a while ago. They were soup/cereal (8)and much too big. Returned. Then ordered 4 dessert bowls a little small for cereal but OK so far.

Bowls

I love everything about these bowl except that over time they scratch. Same with the pasta bowls and cereal bowls. The reason I bought these bowls is that the original bowls were marked up and ugly with scratches. To be fair I have had them probably 20 years and use them every day. I guess that might be normal wear and tear. I don't notice this on any of the other pieces. I bought two complete sets plus a number of serving pieces many years ago.

Disappointed

I thought these were factory seconds when they arrived. The floral band at the top of the columns lacks definition and detail. Very different from the quality in the place settings and serving pieces when I originally purchased this pattern. I've been told Mikasa changed the molds and thus there is considerable variability now in how the pattern comes out. Very unfortunate. Will not purchase again unless from a store where I can see the exact pieces I'm getting.

The quality of these is NOT good. The finish is off the etching detailing is inferior. Very disappointing.
